borrowed from New Latin, from Jean Beauverie †1938 French botanist and mycologist + New Latin -ia -ia

Note: Named by the French mycologist Jean Paul Vuillemin (1861-1932) in "Beauveria, nouveau genre de Verticilliacées," Bulletin de la Société Botanique de France, tome 59 (1912), pp. 34-40. Vuillemin based the new genus on descriptions made by Beauverie in "Notes sur les Muscardines. Sur une Muscardine du Ver à soie," Laboratoire d'Études de la Soie, Rapport présenté à la Chambre de Commerce de Lyon par la Commission administrative, tome 14 (1911), pp. 55-82.
