Where does gucci come from?
The slang use of gucci comes from the luxury brand Gucci, one of the most famous in the world (its symbol—two linked G's—adorns purses and shirts and the like the world over). Gucci began seeing use as a synonym for fashionable some while ago; the earliest evidence we've found of this use is from the September 1999 issue of Harper's Bazaar, in which singer Lenny Kravitz describes his very stylish liquid-blue bedroom as "very Gucci.” In the 2010s the word started taking on meanings beyond those relating to fashion, such as “good” or “excellent.”
How is gucci used?
Gucci is slang, and so is relatively informal in nature; you are unlikely to want to use it in formal writing. However, it is not considered vulgar or offensive, except for by those who dislike slang in all iterations.
