Note: This term is usually used specifically of the region of the U.S. historically including western Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, southern Minnesota, the eastern parts of South Dakota, Nebraska, and Kansas, and northern Missouri. In this specific use it is usually capitalized.
